I don’t have much of an excuse, well I do, but I don’t want to use it.
Mostly school has just been hectic. And my winter break was even more hectic. My father passed just before the new year, so that was a little crazy in my life. Then I started back to school in a daze and now I’m in a sorority and having friends and such.
I’m back now! I hope. Mostly my posts will be student oriented, as I am a student, or book oriented. I read a lot of books for class and some for fun, so I should have plenty to write about, right? Sure, no.
I do plan to still make this a kinda personal blog with some updates about my life as well, I’m thinking between books.
I’m also on youtube again, haven’t posted a video yet, but when I do I will link to it.
Look for a lot more posts from me. And again, I’m sorry for unexplained absence ❤
Off to a show with my new sorority sisters!
Much Love, Rae.
First a Note: I mean to update more. I do. I promise I do. Things get hectic. Then I get online. Youtube is redicovered… I remember that I miss people I used to watch… remember I used to love making those videos… watch… make some. Then I find (refind) Vlogbrothers. I remember them as Brothers 2.0, but they have obviously grown into nerfighteria. Now I’m obsessed, because I needed a new obsession I’m sure. There I met people. Now I’m working on to collaborations, one a blog and one a vlog. I promise to try to continue to update as these things get launched… but if that fails, I will definately let you know where the collab blog and vlogs are and you can keep up with me and other awesome people there!
Now on to my thoughts on seasons!!
Seasons, why do they exist? To give a proper time for certain foods and clothing choices. Okay, maybe not, but that’s how it works in my magic world. I absolutely love season drinks/snacks/foods/etc. At this very moment I am drinking a pumpkin spice tea.
When I think of fall/winter I think of many things, a lot of them food/drink related. Here is a short list:
- Pumpkin/cinnamon/nutmeg – These scents fill the air from October to February or March. Why? Cinnamon and nutmeg are the “spices” in pumkin spice flavors! They are the flavors found in pumpkin pie! They are some of the most awaited foods at Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanakkah/Yule/Solstice/etc. I, personally, adore pumpkin spicce bread and pumpkin spice smelling items!
- Hot Cocoa – This is more a winter thing. I love a big mug of hot cocoa in the morning or at night. The steam, the taste, the smell, it all screams winter to me.
- Sweaters – Not light ones, but big comfy sweaters.
- Apples – This goes along with Pumpkin spice in my mind. I love Apple Spice foods as well. I also love Apple Cider, which is another perfect winter drink that is also very aromatic.
- Sage – On Thanksgiving day at my house, the air in the kitchen smells strongly of sage. Sage is the main flavoring in a lot of cornbread dressings. My family uses a lot of sage on Thanksgiving and I think it’s a wonderful scent. The colour also makes for a nice touch to an autumn/winter wardrobe!
What do you think of when you think of autumn/winter?
I’ve been so busy recently with Thanksgiving, first, then back to school with the end of semester ta-dos. I have two more weeks of this semester! I’m so very excited.
What this really means for you,
I’ll be trying to avoid work and studying, so I’ll hopfully be archiving some new posts.
Right this moment, I’m watching GPS on CNN. They are currently debating whether the United States should launch military action against Iran because they seem to be working towards developing nuclear weapons. At this time, it is unknown the actual goal of the Iranians.
Personally, I think military action should be saved until it is clear that they are developing weapons or until it is clear that they are planning an attack on the United States. Is it okay to attack a country because they might be working towards development of weapons? I’m not saying we should wait until we are attacked and lives are lost, but I do think we should hold off until the Iranian intentions are obvious.
What do you think?
(Please stay respectful of differeing views.)
I first saw this video back in February. It was appropriately times because I was finally realizing that after my senior year in highschool was over, I’d be moving three hours away and would be alone quite often. It made me smile and I used some of the ideas. I made a point to go alone to lunch at the local diners and a mexican food place I love. It was then that I noticed how true the video was. Society is afraid of being alone.
The small tables that you are seated at when you ask for a “table for one” is always a table for two. There are two chairs, two plates, two napkins. They don’t have tables for one. I think this is quite a lack in our society. I understand that it may be more common for couples or multiples to go out to eat, but if we had single tables, would more singles go out?
I think it’s a perpetually unending cycle. There are no single tables, so it seems less accepted to go out alone, so no one goes out alone, so resteraunts don’t have single tables, so singles don’t go out. It’s rediculous and it is silly. No one is comfortable with being themselves and being alone. The looking-glass effect is effecting our eating habits.
I feel that we should take a stand and push for single tables. Singles should go out and realize something: No one is looking at you, they are too busy with themselves and their friends to notice you alone. This is me calling for a movement of singles, not specifically romantically single, but those who don’t have friends who want to go out, or are in a city all alone, or just simply enjoy solitude, to go out alone. Be proud to be a single. We should make Singleness obviously acceptable in our society.
Again, I’ve spent a little over $20 on books in the past two days. Granted I could spend $20 on just one book, the point is, I don’t need more books at the current. But, they were on sale… so that makes it okay, right?
These first three books were actually on the buy 2 get 1 free shelf at Books-a-million, so I’m happy with this buy. That’s why I don’t usually go to Books-a-Million, waste tons of money. Anyway! I’d been waiting to buy A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson. Then I also found two books I never knew existed: Ingledove by Marly Youmans and Slacker Girl by Alexander Koslow. The first is about twins whose mother dies and their town is flooded. They go to visit her grave and find a new inscription that reads “A daughter of Adantis.” This leads them into a magical world and Ingledove must find a mysterious man and use all her strength to save her brother. Just my style. The second is actually nothing resembling my usual style. It’s obvious Chick-lit. It made a Breakfast at Tiffany’s reference and my heart was won.
The red on in this picture, The Juliet Club by Suzanne Harper, was also on sale at Books-a-million. It, of course, intrigued my Shakespeare loving mind and I really can’t wait to read it. It’s about a girl who vows to never love again. She has a strong adoration of Shakespeare and gets to go to Verona to study. In Verona the other Scholars and the city make her question that vow. It’s very Teen Chick-lit-y, but I love Shakespeare, so I couldn’t pass it up. The other book here is another of my most vivid loves: Tea! 20,000 Secrets of Tea by Victoria Zak seems a promising cookbook of sorts that discusses not only delicious tea, but the health benefits of the various herbs. Prepare for many a review.
Aside from my shopping news, I haven’t much else to say in this post. I do think I’ll start some of my bookish memes from my old blog again. I enjoy sharing my books. I’m also going to be looking for other memes as well. Try to post a meme at least 4 days out of the week (only two bookish memes, I promise.)
Are there any memes you particularly like, to participate or just to read? Let me know in the comments! ❤
Today, through my research of the female blogging community today, I found the SITS girls. While this blog deserves it’s own post, I believe that can wait. Through searching their blogging tips, I found Mama Kat’s Writing Promt Generator.
Just to get a feel for the prompts that appear, I scrolled through and found some I quite enjoy and that I feel would be suitable on this blog, since it is now anything I say it is (This is exciting!!).
So, I do believe that I will do a series called “_________ (as per Mama Kat’s suggestion)” The blank being the post title, followed by the series title in parenthases. In this series I will choose one prompt from the generator and write a post about it. I think this’ll be neat and I hope my readers enjoy it. 🙂
What ya think?
I’ve been blogging since way back when I got my first laptop, but all of those were specialized. I had a Princess Blog, a Lolita Blog, several Book Blogs, Fashion Blogs, Photography Blogs, etc., but after a while, they all died off as my interest in that subject or in blogging about that subject passed. Now, inspired by discovering Blogher and many wonderful sites there, I have created me a new, hopefully permanent home.
I am back dating a lot of posts from here. Book reviews, life points, etc., from some of the blogs I still know exist and can access, but today, 7 November, 2011, I declare this as a home for all my interests as they wax and wane (Moon reference, btw.).
Home you enjoy reading about the journey of my never stagnant or consistant interests and life.
